The open air party and dinner last night rounded off a packed first day of the summit.

Excellent key-note speakers launched the event with great insights. Terry Lundgren’s experiences from macys.com highlighted several ideas for me to take back to my team at House of Fraser in the UK given the similarities in our businesses. An inspirational video then launched the Forrester Research presentation which was both insightful and thought provoking. Sitting in the audience one could feel the energy of the gathered delegates.

As the day unfolded the opportunity to network with like-minded people all facing similar challenges in the current economic times was invaluable. I was struck at the willingness of everyone to share their learnings in an open manner and this is what makes Shop.org such a strong community.

Assuming day two continues in the same manner this will have been well worth the effort of making the trip.

Lot’s of new faces to engage with as well as opportunity to meet up with those more familiar. This morning off to great start with three excellent keynote speakers highlight being the cross reference of the evolution of today’s on-line consumer to Darwin’s Evolution of the Species. It’s going to be a great shop.org
