In case you haven’t heard the news, the Ray M. Greenly Scholarship fund recently awarded $195,000 in scholarships to 26 deserving college students from across the country seeking degrees in everything from economics, accounting, merchandising and marketing, and pursuing a career in retail.

Several years ago, the Ray Greenly Scholarship fund was established in honor of late Vice President of Research and Member Services, Ray Greenly, who lost a year long fight with cancer in the fall of 2005. In his memory, the proceeds are used to provide financial support to students who demonstrate a proven work ethic, embrace change and innovation and have a strong passion for digital retail.

The Spring 2013 scholarship recipients are prime examples of the top talent the industry needs to thrive as e-commerce grows and innovation pushes us forward– this, according to the top five things on the minds of retail recruiters in the Retail Recruiter Network. And, they couldn’t be more right.

That’s why I’m excited to announce that we’ll be hosting all the recipients at the inaugural 2013 Annual Summit Student Program, this September in Chicago. With more than 4,000 digital and multichannel retail professionals and 200 exhibitors under one roof, what better place to show them the exciting careers and new innovation in digital retail?

The Ray Greenly Scholars, along with other students from the NRF Student Association, will enjoy a day of educational sessions and networking opportunities at the student program. Students will also hear keynote sessions with retail executives Gregory D. Wasson, President and CEO of Walgreen Co. and’s very own Chairman of the Board of Directors and Tory Burch LLC CMO, Miki Berardelli at the Summit, and have the opportunity to explore the EXPO Hall.

I encourage you to take a look at the recipients’ impressive profiles, and get to know their names and faces – you’ll certainly be seeing more of them.
