Leadership Matters
If you believe in Shop.org’s vision to be the world’s leading membership community for digital retail, please mark Friday, June 18, on your calendar. This is the day when applications are due for the 2010 Shop.org Board of Director election.
This year, six retail and five non-retail seats will be contested. It’s a competitive process, but one that consistently yields amazing leaders for the Shop.org community. If you would like to help shape the strategic direction of Shop.org or you know someone that you think should, please consider being a part of the election process this year.
In addition to contributing to Shop.org’s vision, Directors have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented leaders in our industry.
For example, a number of current and former Board members are now retail CEOs. Bob Myers, CEO, Sheplers; and Chuck Davis, CEO, Fandango, are examples of two current Board members in this category. Sam Taylor, CEO of Oriental Trading, was a Board member for a number of years.
Another current Director, Brett Hurt, the founder and CEO of Bazaarvoice, is well known as a visionary entreprenuer with a passion for company culture. In fact, this month Brett was featured on the cover of Texas CEO, in which he discusses the importance of culture in a Q&A.
The Board is comprised of 17 elected members – 11 retailers and 6 non-retailers. Each Board member brings a unique point of view and set of experiences to Shop.org. This diversity and depth and breadth of experience is critical to ensuring that Shop.org continues to stay relevant and to deliver valuable products and services to its members.
