The Holiday ’09 season is now officially over, and I think everyone is happy to look ahead to a new year, fresh opportunities and — hopefully — a gradually improving economy. That said, our second holiday online sales flash survey, conducted with our partner, Forrester Research, indicates that it was indeed a good season for numerous online retailers.
We surveyed 42 retailers between December 22 and January 4. As usual in our (anonymous) quarterly sales flash surveys, we asked simply how online sales had grown for the period November 1 through December 21, as compared with the same period in 2008. Over two-thirds of these retailers reported sales increases of over 10%, and one fifth reported increases under 10%. Happily, retailers across the board — whether large, mid-size, small, multi-channel or pure play — enjoyed largely good results for the season.
Members may download the data summary and results overview. Many thanks to all retailers who participated in our two holiday online sales flash surveys, and best wishes to everyone for a prosperous 2010.
