December 18 is the magic date for many online consumers this year — I just hope they know it. After that day, almost two thirds of retailers we surveyed will no longer guarantee that customers’ online purchases using standard shipping will actually arrive before December 25.
According to the Shop.org eHoliday ’09 Study, conducted in partnership with BIGresearch, one galvanizing force for many consumers will be that one quarter of retailers surveyed also plan to end free standard shipping promotions right about then (December 17 and 18).
Full disclosure: I’m one of those people who shops for the holiday all year long and yet somehow still has any number of gifts to buy when standard shipping deadlines are long gone. As such, I was happy to see that fully half of retailers surveyed will offer express one day shipping as late as December 23 (whew). However, I also know that express shipping will likely come at a steep price this year: well over one third of retailers surveyed will offer no free or upgraded express shipping offers at all.

Trust December is going well for you, let me know your thoughts about shipping deadlines and offers.

During the Xmas season I love online shopping! I think its cause during this time the shops are just a mad house and looking for gifts becomes a nightmare. I like to have all my shopping done by the end of November then I just do all the wrapping in December.
