Surely, there will be many more policy positions to clarify, but the first clue of what an Obama administration may mean to online retailers is a positive one.  President-elect Obama has indicated that part of his stimulus plan is to promote universal, affordable, high-speed Internet

In addition to being a boost to innovation and entrepreneurship, increased broadband penetration allows retailers to reach their customers with more robust online shopping experiences.  There are multiple studies that show households with broadband access do more online shopping.  On behalf of online retailers, Shop.org supports an economic recovery plan that brings broadband access to all Americans and we applaud President-elect Obama for proposing this idea.

This is one of a number of issues that could affect digital retail.  We are especially eager to get a clearer indication on where the new administration and FTC will be on marketing and privacy issues.
