Shop@Lunch

Shop.org had our annual Shop@Lunch event in downtown DC at the Hard Rock Cafe.  (Photos on Snapfish) It was a resounding success with great turnout, lots of shopping, and lots of press coverage.

We substantially exceeded our planned turnout, so it seemed fun to look at the breakdown of attendees for our local viral marketing efforts.  As people registered, we had asked how they heard about the event.

Out of 278 responses:

  • 96 employee referrals – Shop.org had an internal contest to see which employee would refer the most attendees.
  • 55 from flyers distributed at the Metro
  • 52 said a friend brought/told them about it
  • 25 heard about it via their employer
  • 16 misc (press, blogs, etc.)
  • 34 said email (several of our partners forwarded emails to their lists)

We also had good luck with using Facebook for RSVPs, which gave us a bit of visibility into how many people to expect.

The turnout was great! It feels good to see people are still maintaining their way of life even with everything going on in the world today… A very small beacon of hope… but still hope!
