Audio Interview, Dan Neely, Roundtable presenter, Cracking the social commerce code

Dan Neely is the CEO of Networked Insights, a Madison, WI firm that plays in the social commerce space.  Using a somewhat random approach, I looked for a roundtable that seemed to be energized and conducted the following interview after Dan’s roundtable talk on Tuesday afternoon. The duration of my friendly interrogation is around 13 minutes where we discuss some of the following areas:

  • A walk-thru of a community scenario using one of their clients, Net Shops, as an example.
  • Back office activities regarding the management, creation and seeding of social media
  • Discussion on outreach to existing social media content creators
  • The methods and role of analytics and knowing where to look for the correct conversations
  • Mining for sentiment in textual posts, the methods around contextualization
  • Brief discussion on algorithms used and the importance of influencer conversations
  • Tracking blogs vs. social media - why social media may have an edge
  • Dan’s background (that included founding team at Essurance and head of strategy at Scient)
  • Various statistics on social networking
  • Some words on cognitive mapping, AI and dealing with the loudest person in the room (on the Net)
