How Consumers Are Reacting To The Economic Downturn

As I was talking to our members at our Online Merchandising Workshop the recent economic downturn was at the center of most of our conversations. The three main topics were how long will it last, how bad will it get, and have consumers started changing their behavior based on the slowdown.
Shop.org is addressing that last topic with the launch of our new Shop.org Webinar Series. Hosted by Patti Freeman Evans from JupiterResearch and Ira Kalish from Deloitte Research, our Webinar titled “Consumer Behavior in a Downturned Economy” will take place Monday August 11th at 1:00 EST. This is for Shop.org members only and If you have not signed up, please register today. I have looked at the presentation and it really gives a fresh perspective on how the economy is effecting all areas of retail.
As a preview to our Webinar, we have worked with our partners at EXPO TV to ask a network of consumers how specifically their behavior is changing during the downturn. You can check out a video of the responses below. It does a great job of setting the stage for our Webinar and I found it fascinating to put a human face to the topic.
